An Open Letter from Anthony Santander to Christian Yelich, Fans, and the Entire Baltimore Orioles Community
Dear Christian, Orioles Fans, and the Baltimore Orioles Community,
As I sit down to write this letter, I’m filled with immense gratitude and excitement. Being part of the Baltimore Orioles family is something I’ll never take for granted, and the support I’ve felt from the fans, my teammates, and the organization has meant the world to me. But today, I want to take a moment to extend a special note to someone who has not only been a friend and teammate but also a source of inspiration to me—Christian Yelich.
Christian, we’ve shared the field for a number of years now, and I’ve had the privilege of watching you play with grace, determination, and unmatched talent. Your ability to elevate the game, to stay composed under pressure, and to bring joy to the fans is something every player aspires to. You’ve taught me countless lessons, whether it was your approach at the plate or the way you handled the ups and downs of a season. You’ve shown us what it truly means to be a professional.
I think I speak for the entire Orioles community when I say that we are beyond excited to have you on this team. The opportunity to learn from someone with your experience and success is one I do not take lightly. You’ve been a consistent force in the league for years, and your leadership will undoubtedly inspire not just the veterans, but the younger guys too. I can already see the energy shift in the locker room, and I can feel the hunger to compete at the highest level. That’s the kind of impact you have.
To the fans of Baltimore, I can’t thank you enough for your unwavering support. From the first moment I stepped into Camden Yards, I knew this city was special. The energy in the stands, the roar of the crowd, and the passion of the fanbase—it’s something I cherish every day. The way you show up for us, game in and game out, makes all the difference. You are the heartbeat of this organization, and I’m proud to represent you every time I put on that orange and black jersey.
As we embark on this new chapter with Christian joining the team, I know that we’re building something special here in Baltimore.
