An Open Letter from Reece Walsh to Nathan Cleary, Fans, and the Entire Brisbane Broncos Community
Dear Nathan, fans, and the Brisbane Broncos community,
First and foremost, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for the incredible support I’ve received since joining the Broncos. From the moment I stepped into this family, I felt embraced by not just the club, but by the fans, who have made my transition to Brisbane feel like a homecoming. It’s not lost on me how special it is to play for a club with such a rich history, and every time I run out onto that field, I am reminded of the responsibility I carry to represent this jersey with pride.
To Nathan Cleary, I want to thank you for being the player you are and for the role you’ve played in shaping this sport. The standard you’ve set, not just as a player but as a leader, is something I look up to. Your consistency, work ethic, and ability to execute under pressure are things I am always striving to improve upon in my own game. The way you manage the team and lift everyone around you is inspiring. Playing against you and learning from your example is something I cherish, and I hope that one day, I can get to a point in my career where I can influence my teammates in a similar way.
I know that with every game, there’s a chance to grow, to learn, and to show the fans what we are capable of. To the Broncos fans, you’ve made it clear how much this club means to you, and I want to assure you that I will never take that for granted. Your passion and your energy are a constant reminder of why we do what we do. You show up, rain or shine, and create an atmosphere that is second to none in the league. The way you support not just the wins but also stand by us through the tough times speaks volumes about the strength of this community. I’m grateful to be a part of that.
I understand that there are high expectations when it comes to the Broncos. There’s a legacy of excellence that we must honor every time we pull on the jersey, and I fully embrace that. But I also want to remind everyone that this is a journey. There will be challenges, there will be moments of adversity, but I promise you this: we will face them as a team. We will work hard, we will support each other, and we will do everything we can to bring pride and success back to this club.
As a young player, I know I still have much to learn, and I’m thankful to the leadership group here at the Broncos for their guidance. I have been fortunate enough to play with some of the best in the game, and each one of them has contributed to my development as a player. Every training session, every game, is a chance to improve, and I’m excited to see how much further we can go, both as individuals and as a team.
To the supporters who cheer us on every week, your energy is what drives us to give our best on the field. I don’t take lightly the responsibility I have to represent this club, this jersey, and all of you.
