Vivian Campbell Provides Health Update After Missing Def Leppard Concerts Due to Cancer Treatment
Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has shared a positive health update after missing the band’s first two concerts of 2025 due to ongoing cancer treatment. The 62-year-old musician, who has been battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 2013, recently underwent a bone marrow transplant as part of his treatment plan. In a message posted on social media, Campbell expressed gratitude for the support he has received and reported that the transplant has been “very successful” so far. He mentioned that he is focusing on his recovery and maintaining a positive outlook during the next 100 days of primary recovery.
Campbell’s absence was noted during Def Leppard’s concert on January 18, 2025, at the Feria Estatal De León in León, Mexico. Frontman Joe Elliott informed the audience that Campbell was recovering from cancer treatment, and John Zocco, Phil Collen’s guitar tech, filled in for him on stage.
Despite missing these performances, Campbell remains optimistic about his recovery. He signed his social media post as “A very happy Viv!” and expressed his appreciation for the continued support from fans.
Looking ahead, Campbell is expected to return to the stage with Def Leppard when their tour resumes on May 15, 2025, in Puerto Rico. If his recovery continues as planned, he will rejoin the band for their upcoming performances.
Fans and fellow musicians have expressed their support and well wishes for Campbell during this challenging time. His resilience and positive attitude serve as an inspiration to many.
