According to a report by The Athletic’s Eric Nehm, Griffin claimed that the decision of Stotts to step down came as a

surprise to him, as the assistant coach for the Milwaukee coaching staff had been reorganized four months prior.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania described a shoot-around between Griffin and Stotts last Tuesday in a different story.

Griffin called a team meeting to conclude the practice and gave the players permission to engage in some post-

shootaround shooting drills, according to Charania, who cited sources for her claim.

Griffin also declared during the huddle that he preferred a private meeting with the coaches.

Following the coaches’ meeting, Stotts is said to have went over to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.

Terry was invited to the coaches’ huddle by Adrian. When Stotts requested further time to speak with Giannis and

Dame, Griffin allegedly shouted at him and demanded that the veteran coach join the coaching huddle.

Stotts’ third stint with the Bucks was cut short by his abrupt resignation. In 1998, the head coach of the Portland

Trail Blazers left to become an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 65-year-old Stotts left Milwaukee to lead the team for two seasons before rejoining it.
