Trail Blazers Reportedly Agree on 4-Year Contract
Evan Turner agreed to leave the Boston Celtics on Friday and sign a four-year, $70 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical spread word of the arrangement.
Turner, 27, joined the Celtics in September 2014, reviving his career after appearing to be a bust as the second overall pick in 2010.
He averaged 10.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists for the Celtics in 2015-16, shooting a career-high 45.6 percent from the field, according to Basketball-Reference.com. Brad Stevens, Boston’s head coach, found Turner the right role coming off the bench behind Avery Bradley.
Turner’s role, however, extended during the playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks. When Bradley injured his hamstring in Game 1 and was out for the following five games, Turner started the next four games of the series.
