Treliving: I’d describe it as a typical trade deadline day. Prior to it, we saw a number of deals in the last few days. I’m
not sure if it was that busy for us today. In the weeks coming up to the deadline, there are specific tasks you are
attempting or may attempt. You have a good idea of what you may or may not be able to do.
We looked at our group and recognized certain requirements, but we knew we wouldn’t be able to meet them all. You
keep an eye on your teammates. You decide what your needs are. Is what you need available? What is the acquisition
cost? Do you have the [assets] to complete the acquisition?
As we looked about, we decided to attempt to add some depth at center, someone who is defensively responsible and
a terrific penalty killer. If you look at our team right now, our penalty kill needs to improve. We can’t airlift a lot of
new PKers in. We need to tighten things up structurally, but if there is an area where we can improve personnel, we
want to [address it.
Connor is a man who came in with a cost and cap fit. He is a very competitive player. Many individuals may not be
familiar with him. Excellent penalty shooter. He has some leeway in terms of positional utility. He can play center.
He can play the wing. He has some grease on him.
We are thrilled to welcome him. It adds some depth in the middle. He has a guy who is skilled at penalty killing and
defensively responsible. I’m pleased to have him in the group today.
