The 2024 Boston Red Sox season is the 124th in the franchise’s existence, and the 113th at Fenway Park. Alex Cora is
in the penultimate year of his contract as the team’s on-field manager,[3], while Craig Breslow is in his first season as
the Chief Baseball Officer.[4] The team’s regular season started on March 28 with a road game against the Seattle
Mariners and will end on September 29 with a home game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The tractor-trailer hauling the team’s equipment left Fenway Park for Florida on “Truck Day” on February 5.[69] On
February 23, the team played its first spring training game, a 7-2 exhibition victory over the Northeastern Huskies at
JetBlue Park.[70] The team’s Grapefruit League schedule ran from February 24 to March 24, [71].[72], including two
games against the Tampa Bay Rays on March 9-10 at Estadio Quisqueya in the Dominican Republic as part of the
MLB World Tour;[73], the Red Sox won both.[74][75] The team finished the preseason by winning two exhibition
games against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on March 25-26,[76] for a total preseason record of 19-12,[77],
including three ties.[76]
On March 22, the team announced that the starting pitching rotation for the season would be Brayan Bello, Nick
Pivetta, Kutter Crawford, Garrett Whitlock, and Tanner Houck.[80]
