Senior Bowl practices have concluded, and for many NFL coaches, this is their first chance to view prospects in
person. Could the New York Giants select from the Senior Bowl roster on draft weekend? Brandon Olsen has the
post-practice mock draft.

The New York Giants season is finished, Senior Bowl practices have concluded, and it is mock draft season. As the
NFL Draft approaches, we’ll work through several possibilities for mock selections, including trading up or down and
prioritizing particular spots over future draft resources.
With Joe Schoen as general manager, the Giants have focused choosing premium positions early in the draft, with
Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal, and Deonte Banks being the first-round picks. This trend is likely to continue this
year, as the Giants continue to lack talent at those pillar positions as they enter the third year of their reign.

This isn’t the first time I’ve predicted the Giants to select Fashanu in a mock draft, and for good reason: he’s an
outstanding offensive lineman with the potential to be a fixture at the position for years. In some ways, the Giants
might see this as bolstering two offensive line positions with a single draft pick.
In this situation, Fashanu can take over as an immediate starter at tackle while Neal switches to guard. It’s clear that
Neal’s tenure at tackle hasn’t been effective, so moving him to guard and giving him the final two years of his
contract to establish his worth before deciding on his fifth-year option is the smartest decision.
The Giants have long sought a receiver who could emerge as a real number-one option on the outside. Given the high
level of this wide receiver class, some receivers who would have been first-round picks are expected to be available
early on day two.
Troy Franklin is one of these players. He’s a superb all-around athlete who can stretch the field vertically and
explode with his cutbacks. Despite being a vertical player, I believe he has route-running talent that will translate
nicely at the next level.
