Archie Gray, a Leeds United prospect, is supposedly the target of Manchester United’s interest.
According to Spanish website Fichajes, Manchester United are the latest Premier League side to be
linked with a move for Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray after they chose against invoking
Sofyan Amrabat’s purchase option.
Gray, who is just 17 years old, has already made a name for himself in the Leeds first team under
Daniel Farke. He has shown great versatility, vision, and technical skill, and several Premier League
heavyweights have taken notice of him while he has played both right back and defensive midfield.
By winning defensive third turnovers and using his nimble passing and inventive skills to create
openings for teammates, he seeks to win defensive midfield turnovers and swiftly advance the ball.
At such a young age, he can portray such a wide range of characters, which speaks to his incredibly
diverse skill set. Despite his superior technical abilities, his intelligence and game reading skills are
what really stand out about him.
Fichajes believe the £40 million–£50 million star is now on INEOS’ radar after the club came to the
conclusion regarding flop on-loan playmaker Sofyan Amrabat, who is currently away at the African
Cup of Nations. Liverpool and Tottenham are also rumored to be keeping an eye on the English
Under-19 international.
The article also states that Sofyan Amrabat’s loan at the team isn’t going as expected, and the Red
Devils are already organizing preparations for this year’s replacement and resolving
The Reds have noted Gray as a possible alternative, and they are keeping a close eye on the 17-year-
old. But, if the Peacocks place in the top two or win the play-offs, they won’t want to lose one of
their star players to a rival team or a Premier League team because of their rivalry and Leeds
United’s possible promotion in a few months.
There are also questions about the player’s desire
to move from Leeds to their bitter rivals. Like his family before him, Gray had deep connections to
the club when he entered the Whites’ establishment. His uncle is seen as one of the Whites’ best
players, and he is the son of former Leeds and Scotland striker Andy Gray.
It’s said that Leeds is attempting to start talks to extend Gray’s contract, which expires in 2025.
This gives Gray complete control over his future. He may choose to commit to Leeds for the next
phase of his development or pursue bigger and better things with a seasoned Premier League team
that doesn’t often support young players.
