Aaron Jones, who defeated the Cowboys, sends a strong message to the doubters in the Packers
Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones extended his dominance against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, helping his club runaway with a playoff win on Super Wild Card Weekend.
After the game, Jones talked with media about his performance, which included 118 yards on 21 carries (5.6 yards per attempt), 3 touchdowns, and a 13-yard reception. The running back conveyed a strong message to the skeptics outside of Packers Nation even in spite of his polite and generally quiet tone.
“On this team, we have every weapon we require. People can continue to question us, but that’s fine,” Jones said. “We are huge fans of the underdog mindset and strategy. What will people say after that?
“Go take action if you feel disrespected,” he continued.
During a four-game winning streak, Aaron Jones has been exploding for the Packers offense.
In doing so, Green Bay repeatedly pummeled the Cowboys defense with Jones, creating openings for quarterback Jordan Love to complete 16 of 21 throws for 272 yards, three touchdowns, and an almost flawless passer rating of 157.2.
Despite a sluggish start to the run game over the first few plays, Jones expressed his satisfaction with the team’s perseverance. “Running the ball creates space for everything else to happen.”
Due to numerous injuries this season, Jones missed a number of games. He has, nevertheless, excelled when it has counted most.
With a 9-8 record, Green Bay needed to win its next three games to smuggle themselves into the postseason as the No. 7 seed in the NFC. According to Pro Football Reference, Jones ran for at least 111 yards in each of those three games before amassing 118 yards on Sunday.
When questioned about his recent success, Jones was modest and gave credit to the entire group, highlighting his offensive line in particular.
“As a team, we are playing as one. It’s easy for me to pick and choose which hole I want to run through because the blocking unit is doing their job up front, Jones said. It’s simply a credit to them, in my opinion. In addition, play calling should be considered, as should simply becoming fit again and having something to prove.
