Brad Wing, a punter, was added by the Steelers to the practice squad today.

Wing was signed earlier in the season to cover punter Pressley Harvin’s injuries, and this is his second spell on the practice squad this year.

This season, Wing has punted for the Steelers in two games: Week 4 at the Houston Texans and Week 5 at Acrisure Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens. He punted 11 times in two games, averaging 45 yards gross and 38.9 yards net. He has three punts within the 20-yard line, two touchbacks, and a 52-yard gain.

Wing spent a season playing for the black and gold, thus he is well-known to the Steelers. During the 2014 regular season, Wing played in all 16 of the Steelers’ games. He punted 61 times for 2,668 yards, making 20 of his attempts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

After being moved, Wing played three seasons with the New York Giants. He posted a 44.5-yard gross average and a 38.9-yard net average in his debut season with the Giants. He tied the Giants single-season record with 33 punts inside the 20-yard line.

He punted 93 times in 2016, breaking a Giants single-season record with the net average (40.9 yards) and a 46.2 yard gross average. On 28 punts, he made it inside the 20-yard line. In consecutive weeks, he was also named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

After the 2013 NFL Draft, Wing, who played collegiate football at LSU and in the XFL last season, signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Following the release of quarterback Trace McSorley on Tuesday, the team had space on the practice squad.
