Packers sign three linebackers to future/reserve contracts through 2024.

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers signed linebackers Deslin Alexandre, Deandre Johnson, and Christian Young to reserve/future contracts, starting the process of filling up the team’s 90-man offseason roster for 2024.

Johnson and Alexandre are both edge rushers. Young plays linebacker off-ball.

Reserve/future contracts give a player a slot on the 90-man offseason roster and serves as placeholder agreements until the new league year begins in March. This season, they are not qualified to play for the Packers.

In 2023, Alexandre was not selected by Pitt. During his rookie NFL season, he was a member of the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets. Over the course of 58 games at Pitt, Alexandre recorded 16.5 sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss.

In 2022, Johnson was not selected from Miami. Prior to competing in the XFL in 2023, he was a first-year player for the Dolphins. Johnson recorded 14.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in his five years as a college player.

Young was released in November after having previously participated in some practice sessions with the Packers this season. Young, a safety in college at Arizona, moved to linebacker. In 2023, he also played for a while with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Packers can begin signing existing practice squad members to reserve/future contracts when the season concludes.
