Outside linebacker Keshawn Banks of the Green Bay Packers has been promoted from the team’s practice squad to
the starting lineup for their game against the San Francisco 49ers, according Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated. As a
rookie undrafted free agent, Banks will be making his professional debut because he hasn’t yet participated in an
NFL regular season game.
Considering that outside linebacker Kingsley Enagbare was thought to have suffered an ACL tear against the Dallas
Cowboys last week, the decision isn’t shocking. Since Enagbare played 41% of the team’s defensive snaps in the
regular season of 2023, the pass-rushing unit will need to adjust with his absence.
As the next man up, it is expected that rookie first-round pick Lukas Van Ness will have to play a great deal more
snaps. However, as a reserve, Banks and rookie undrafted free agent Brenton Cox Jr. will have to split snaps. Despite
spending the entire season on the 53-man roster, Cox has only participated in four defensive snaps. The combination
of Cox and Banks is, to put it mildly, unknown.
