Brooks was unable to participate for the Tigers in Saturday’s 41-14 victory over Mississippi State due to a medical situation, according to coach Brian Kelly. Brooks was given the game ball after the win.

Brooks’ family issued a statement on Wednesday, claiming that “Greg continues to fight and we await further clarity on the extent of his battle,” referring to whether the removed tissue was cancerous or not.

“We are grateful for the medical staff’s work and care in guiding Greg through these challenges, as well as the

concern and love shown by so many in the Louisiana, Arkansas, and national sports communities.” “This means

everything to us during this difficult time,” the statement added. “Greg is still fighting, and we’re waiting for more

information about the scope of the combat. His tremendous character gives us confidence, but we also realize that he

requires our help now more than ever. Please keep Greg and our entire family in your prayers. #Pray for three.”

Kelly told reporters during his weekly SEC teleconference on Wednesday that Brooks felt dizzy from vertigo last Wednesday, forcing LSU to get him an MRI, which found the brain tumor. Brooks had experienced vertigo throughout preseason sessions.

“The vertigo was just a symptom of what was obviously a larger issue,” she said.

Kelly is doubtful whether Brooks will be able to play again this season. However, he did claim that he met Brooks in the hospital on Sunday and that before to his operation, “he was pretty clear about playing again this year.”

Prior to Wednesday’s announcement, Kelly had ruled Brooks out of LSU’s Saturday game against Arkansas (6 p.m., ESPN). Kelly described Brooks’ condition as “a family matter” and did not specify a timetable for his potential return.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers stated on Saturday that the team was alerted of Brooks’ medical situation on Thursday. Edge rusher Sai’vion Jones and linebacker Greg Penn III said on Tuesday that Brooks conveyed a message to the squad before of the game against the Bulldogs.
