WHAT A SIGNING : Green bay added a key player about $32million contract…

During the team’s recent bye week, Packers coach Matt LaFleur focused on increasing offense, particularly in the

first half. According to NFL Media, Green Bay signed former 1,000-yard rusher James Robinson on Tuesday, a move toward enhancing their offensive output.

The 25-year-old running back is looking to bounce back from a number of recent disappointments in his career. It all began soon after he became the fourth undrafted rookie to dash for 1,000 yards in history during the 2020 campaign.

In Week 16, Robinson suffered an Achilles tendon tear, which terminated his 2021 season. He only appeared in four

games with Gang Green before being dealt to the Jets in October of 2022. Robinson joined the Patriots in March, but

because of health issues, he was cut go in June. After that, Robinson trained camped with the Giants for five weeks

before being let go.

Robinson worked out for the Colts and Ravens last month, but he chose not to sign with any of the teams.

Before he injured his Achilles, Robinson had a strong performance. In his debut season, he averaged 4.5 yards per

carry and ran for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns. During that season, he also caught 49 of 60 targets for 344

yards and three touchdowns. The next year, Robinson averaged a career-high 4.7 yards per carry while scoring eight

touchdowns on the ground.

During the first five weeks of the season, the Packers offensive finished lowest in the NFL in terms of yards gained in

the first half of games. Robinson will try to change that. Since Aaron Jones has only played in two games this season,

his injury has added to Green Bay’s offensive woes. The backup, AJ Dillon, is only averaging 2.8 yards per rush and

has had difficulty replacing Jones in the starting lineup.

Against a struggling Broncos club this Sunday in Denver, Green Bay (2-3) is looking to reverse its recent slump.

Denver’s defense, which has given up more points than any other team in the NFL thus far, is largely to blame for the

team’s 1-5 start.
