With the big game only five days away, Super Bowl LVIII preparations are ramping up.

The players are in Las Vegas, practice sessions are beginning, and the coaching staff is working feverishly on game

preparations, with a spot in NFL history up for grabs before the week is over.

Tyreek Hill elevated his game to new heights vs. Ravens

However, with the end of a tough NFL season approaching, there will be questions about some players who are

racing against the clock to be ready for the greatest game of their careers.

Here is an update on the current injury status for both teams.

The Chiefs have a variety of injury concerns that Andy Reid and his team will be dealing with between now and

Sunday evening.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones did not practice last week due to a quad ailment, but he hopes to participate after

resting during the fortnight between games.

Charles Omenihu tore his ACL in the win against the Ravens, and the defensive end will not face his former team in

the Super Bowl. Omenihu was a crucial element of the Chiefs’ strong defense this year, recording seven sacks despite

missing the first six games of the season.

While Omenihu will miss out, the Chiefs will be hopeful All-Pro guard Joe Thuney can recover from a pectoral

ailment. He hasn’t practiced all week and says he’ll take it ‘day by day’ come Monday.

Linebacker Willie Gay also missed the Ravens’ triumph due to a neck issue, but he practiced last week and is

expected to participate.

The Chiefs will also be eager to welcome back Jerick McKinnon, who was reactivated off injured reserve with a groin

ailment. Fellow running back Isiah Pacheco has been limited in practice due to a toe and ankle ailment, but he is still expected to play.

Then there’s the somewhat unusual example of Kadarius Toney, who claimed he wasn’t injured despite being

sidelined since Week 15 with ankle and hip issues. Reid stated last week that the wide receiver had been hurt but is

expected to recover, and he has traveled to Las Vegas with the club.

The 49ers are in a far better injury condition than their opponents this weekend.

Defensive tackle Kalia Davis is listed as questionable due to a recent ankle injury, and while several players,

including George Kittle, Trent Williams, and Arik Armstead, missed practice last week, it is expected that everyone

will play on Sunday.
