On his My Mate’s A Footballer podcast with comic Joe Wilkinson, Bamford discussed the events of that day, following his penalty miss. He describes how supporters waited outside his residence.

Not only that, but his spouse Michaela felt insecure in their own home: “The scenario Leeds were in was quite horrible; we looked like we were going down, and we eventually did. I was on Twitter, but not actively tweeting, until about mid-March. The assault became so severe that it threatened my little girl.

“In the end, I quit Twitter and canceled my account. I spoke with David [psychologist], who told me to just ignore it and given me coping strategies.
