The Kansas City Chiefs have resumed their normal practice routine ahead of Super Bowl LVIII versus the San
Francisco 49ers.
“Yeah, it’s cool, you kind of go back to installing the base offense,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. ”
Obviously, we have the full game plan in place, but you focus on it as you would in a typical week to ensure you are
ready to go. You have media and other tasks to complete, but it is now a normal week. We’re going back to practice
and doing what we do on a regular game day.”
In the spirit of normalcy, the Chiefs have some injury news.
The Chiefs placed DL Charles Omenihu on injured reserve, as was predicted leading up to the Super Bowl. Omenihu
tore his ACL during the team’s AFC championship game victory over the Baltimore Ravens. He is scheduled for
surgery to correct the injuries within a week.
In a matching move, the Chiefs added WR Skyy Moore to the 53-man roster from injured reserve. Moore returns to
duty after missing the previous six games on injured reserve due to a knee ailment. Moore’s participation in the
Super Bowl is not certain, but it is an option. His practicing window was scheduled to expire.
Moore had a setback when he was first designated to return from injured reserve, and the Chiefs reduced his
participation in practice as a result. Moore was designated as a limited participant in practice on all three days of last
week’s bye.
Andy Reid put cold water on the issue on Tuesday, despite telling reporters the week before that he was not ruling
out the prospect of playing. According to NFL Network’s James Palmer, those around Thuney continue to believe he
has a chance to play.
