Mike Williams, a former Buffalo Bills wide receiver, has passed away. He was 36.
According to Spectrum News, Williams was injured in an accident while working on a construction site. According to a GoFundMe website, Williams was partially paralyzed after a steel beam landed on his head while at work. He had breathing problems in the hospital and never recovered consciousness.
Williams was a fourth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010. He finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting, trailing Los Angeles Rams quarterback Sam Bradford.
After three seasons in Tampa, Williams was traded to his hometown team, Buffalo.
Williams played with the Buffalo Bills in 2014, his final NFL season. His time in Buffalo terminated on an injury designation owing to a calf problem.
Williams, who is originally from Buffalo, attended Syracuse University before entering the pros. He attended Riverside High School.
