If Raheem Sterling starts or plays a significant number of minutes as a substitute in the second half, he must perform.
Jackson was acquired from Villarreal last summer to lead Chelsea’s attack.
However, the 22-year-old began on the left for the Blues in their 3-1 victory over Aston Villa last week and scored a goal.
Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Jackson may play there in the future.
“He started on the left [against Aston Villa], but football is dynamic and he has to move,” the Argentine told Chelsea’s official website.
“Yes, I believe he is a player who can play in this environment. I am overjoyed because of his attributes; he usually performs better while facing the goal rather than with his back to it.”
It’s bad news for Sterling, who will also struggle to start on the right.
Sterling can also play on the right and has spent a lot of time on that side this season.
The problem for him is that Pochettino has also utilized Cole Palmer, who has been a huge success for the club.
Palmer has made 27 total appearances, scoring 12 goals and assisting seven times.
Palmer is not the type of guy you would move around to suit Sterling, who has not scored a league goal since November. Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot has even asked for the 29-year-old to take on greater leadership responsibilities at Stamford Bridge.
