Former NFL quarterback and Los Angeles Chargers legend Philip Rivers is expecting his tenth kid after joking that
he and his daughters would prefer a baby boy because the enormous family already has seven daughters.
The 41-year-old former Los Angeles Chargers signal caller revealed that he and his wife, Tiffany, are expecting a baby
boy in the fall. The news was made at a 7-on-7 event in Daphne, Alabama.
The couple already has nine children, aged four to twenty-one. The Rivers family had seven daughters and two boys
before their newest addition arrived. One of their sons is ready to become the starting quarterback at St. Michael
Catholic, where Philip Rivers also coaches.
Rivers, an eight-time Pro Bowler who retired from professional football in 2021 after a 17-year career in the NFL,
shared his excitement about extending his family with his wife, stating that they are pleased to welcome another kid
into the world, preferably a boy.
“We’ve had one pretty much every two years, and now this is the longest gap,” Rivers told reporters. “We’re all
pumped up. Everyone rooted for a boy. Even the girls wanted a boy.”
Rivers and his wife have yet to decide on a name for their upcoming newborn. The former quarterback joked that
they’ve received “numerous opinions” on potential names.
Rivers also said that he comes from a large family, with nine siblings, including his mother and father. “We assumed
we’d be the third generation of nine, but we decided to go double digits — or, more accurately, we didn’t decide. “God
decided,” Rivers said.
In 2006, Rivers became the starting quarterback for the Chargers, who had previously been headquartered in San
Diego. Over the years, he shown marathon man qualities by starting all 16 regular-season games for 15 consecutive
seasons.
