The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the basketball fraternity are remembering Kobe Bryant on the
anniversary of his death. Three years ago, on January 26, 2020, basketball legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old
daughter Gianna, and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.
Kobe Bryant was traveling to his daughter’s basketball game at Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks,
California. According to sources, the helicopter crashed, killing all of the passengers on board.
Kobe Bryant was widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history.
Bryant spent twenty years with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won five NBA titles, appeared in 18 NBA All-Star games,
and received four All-Star MVP trophies. He was also named overall league MVP in 2008.
Bryant scored 81 points in a game in 2006 and went to three consecutive finals from 2008-2010.
While the Los Angeles Lakers were floundering following Magic Johnson’s retirement, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille
O’Neal restored the team’s fortune and form. Shaquille O’Neal left for the Miami Heat in 2004, and Kobe Bryant
became his side’s talisman.
