A previous possible quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons could find a new home next season, which would include a
reunion with his former coach.
According to NFL Network insiders, Atlanta Falcons coach Arthur Smith and Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan
Tannehill could reunite.
“With new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, the expectation is Pittsburgh will explore adding free agent Ryan
Tannehill, who had his best years with the Titans while Smith was the OC there,” according to NFL.com.
Smith was fired by the Falcons last month and was eventually hired by the Steelers as their new offensive
coordinator, succeeding Matt Canada.
Tannehill had long been believed to be a potential Falcons quarterback target, particularly if Smith remained in
Atlanta for another season. Smith was sacked after three seasons of a 7-10 record.
Smith reconnected with Marcus Mariota in 2022, with whom he had previously worked in Tennessee. Mariota
started 13 games for the Falcons but was unable to rebuild his career as a reliable starter.
It’s unclear whether Tannehill would be expected to replace second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett or serve as his
backup. In any case, it appears that the two may hook up again in Pittsburgh.
