The Las Vegas Raiders are adding a young cornerback to their practice squad. On October 5, the team announced the
addition of Rejzohn Wright, a former Carolina Panthers cornerback.
Wright was an undrafted free agent signed by the Panthers this offseason but was released after training camp. He
appeared in 26 games throughout his undergraduate career at Oregon State. During that time, he recorded 64 solo
tackles and four interceptions. He was selected First-Team All-Pac-12 for his efforts in 2022.
Wright played for Laney College, a community college in Oakland, California, before coming to Oregon State. He was
able to get into Oregon State after starring in the fifth season of Netflix’s “Last Chance U.” The show exists to help
junior college football players advance to larger institutions. Wright has already proven to be a hit on the program,
now it’s time to determine if he has NFL potential.
To make place for Wright, the Raiders cut rookie tight end John Samuel Shenker.
The Raiders are a fantastic fit for Rejzohn Wright since he may have an opportunity to play this season. According to
the team’s October 5 injury report, cornerbacks Jakorian Bennett (limited), David Long Jr. (limited), and Nate
Hobbs (did not participate) are all currently injured.
Hobbs was sidelined for the Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and it appears he may be gone for even
longer. The Raiders are already thin at cornerback, so losing any of the three aforementioned players may be
problematic. Marcus Peters and Amik Robertson are the team’s two healthy cornerbacks right now.
