Police said they detained a “popular” Tennessee soccer coach after discovering footage on his phone showing
unconscious minors being assaulted.
Camilo Hurtado Campos is being jailed in Franklin, Tennessee, on allegations of child rape and sexual exploitation,
with additional charges expected, according to a Franklin Police Department news release issued Sunday.
Police say they were notified after Campos left his phone at a restaurant, and employees searched the device for
information about the owner so they could return it.
“What they found, instead, were dozens of unconscionable videos and pictures of children, so they called the police,”
authorities said in a news release.
Authorities investigated and discovered hundreds of unsettling photographs and videos on the 63-year-old’s phone,
according to the release. According to the police, Campos “recorded himself raping unconscious boys between
approximately 9 and 17 years old.”
So far, the rapes of “at least 10 children” have been discovered on the phone, and detectives have identified three of
the victims, according to authorities.
“Five more that we weren’t aware of have also come forward. “We are far from finished reviewing the evidence in this
horrific case,” Franklin police tweeted Monday.
According to detectives, victims may be unaware they were raped because they were unconscious at the time.
Campos has lived in Franklin, just south of Nashville, for the past 20 years.
The soccer coach allegedly frequented school playgrounds, approaching and recruiting children to play soccer, many
of whom he later invited to his home after gaining their trust, according to the release.
