Justin Fields was one of the most popular quarterbacks linked to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. The Chicago
Bears quarterback is likely to be traded after the squad received the first overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Raiders signed his former offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for the same post, but given their lack of success in
Chicago, it’s unclear whether this helps or damages Fields’ prospects of moving to Las Vegas. Regardless, Getsy is a
huge fan of the QB and has high regard for him.
“He’s one of the best human beings I’ve ever gotten to work with,” Getsy remarked of Fields during his inaugural
news conference on February 16. “It’s just the mindset he brought every day, the consistent approach, the type of
man he is. Honestly, working with him was a blessing. And he was someone that came to work every day to improve
himself, and I believe he will continue to do so.”
That sounds like a coach who would be willing to work with Fields again, but the Raiders may not be interested in
doing so. It’s something to keep an eye on, but it appears that the team will try to draft a quarterback early.
While the Bears’ offense as a whole was one of the worst in the NFL over the last two seasons under Luke Getsy, the
team was top-two in running in both of those years. Getsy is still new to the squad, so he has a lot of work to do to
understand his players, but he wants to adjust his strategy to their needs.
