247Sports recently identified 11 “rising stars” in college football who are poised for big seasons in 2024.
They included Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava, a rising redshirt freshman, among the 11 players.
Iamaleava will be Tennessee’s starter in 2024, following his first career start in the Vols’ Citrus Bowl victory against
Iowa at the close of the 2023 season.
This isn’t a particularly controversial decision. Iamaleava starts the 2024 season with high expectations after playing
backup in the regular season for the Vols as a true freshman in 2023.
Tennessee has not been hesitant about stating that reaching the College Football Playoff in 2024 is their main
priority. To achieve that goal, Iamaleava must play well and have a “breakout season” next fall.
