These 49ers are becoming old quickly. Arik Armstead has suffered plantar fasciitis for two years, and it isn’t going
away. George Kittle had only two catches for four yards in the Super Bowl.
despite blowing his third Super Bowl appearance despite leading by double digits, Kyle Shanahan swiftly reminded
the press that he has only lost to two of the best quarterbacks of all time: Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.
Hey, it happened. Kyle Shanahan’s decision to fire Steve Wilks is consistent with the principles he has held since
taking over the 49ers. Obviously, his deteriorating defense and perplexing play decisions were to blame, but one
aspect that has been overlooked is the coaching pool for defensive coordinators.
Under Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers were the top seed in the NFC playoffs every time they reached the Super Bowl. This
means they had a first-round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Where will the 49ers go from here? They’ve been a tenacious team for years. They’ve suffered some terrible losses.
But this one in the Super Bowl has to be the most crushing, embarrassing loss of all time, and I believe it has shaken
their confidence to its core.
