The Indianapolis Colts suspended receiver-punt returner Isaiah McKenzie and cornerback Tony Brown for the
remaining three regular-season games due to conduct detrimental to the team.
Individual players are rarely suspended by their clubs in the NFL. Typically, player sanctions are handled by the
league’s headquarters. Suspensions are typically based on infractions of the league’s personal conduct code or for
violating player safety guidelines. The Colts did not disclose any specifics about what happened when they made the
statement on Tuesday.
Both guys had the most effect this season on special teams, and both were inactive for Saturday’s game against
Pittsburgh. McKenzie had played in all 13 games before to Saturday and served as the team’s primary kick and punt
returner.
In a matching move, the Colts moved running back Tyler Goodson from the practice squad to the active roster.
Goodson received his first carries of the season in Saturday’s 30-13 victory, finishing with 11 rushes for 69 yards.
The Colts (8-6) might need ball carriers this week. Jonathan Taylor has missed the last three games due to surgery
on his right thumb, and his substitute, Zack Moss, had only four carries against the Steelers before injuring his right
arm, which he broke in the preseason.
Coach Shane Steichen has not said if Taylor or Moss will play on Sunday against Atlanta (6-8).
