The NFL said Thursday that four players had been punished for breaching the league’s gambling policy.
The Indianapolis Colts’ Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry, as well as free agent Demetrius Taylor, have been
suspended indefinitely until the end of the 2023 season for betting on NFL games in 2022.
Nicholas Petit-Frere of the Tennessee Titans has been suspended for the first six regular-season games of the 2023
season after wagering on non-NFL sports at the club’s facilities.
Rodgers, Berry, and Taylor can apply for reinstatement at the end of the 2023 season. The Colts waived Rodgers and
Berry upon the revelation of their indefinite suspensions.
“We have made the following roster moves as a consequence of the determination that these players violated the
league’s gambling policy,” said Colts general manager Chris Ballard in a statement following Rodgers and Berry’s
departure. “The game’s integrity is extremely important. As an organization, we will continue to educate our players,
coaches, and staff about the policies in place and the serious repercussions that may result from noncompliance.”
Rodgers delivered a statement on June 5 claiming “full responsibility” for his actions.
The NFL’s gambling policy prohibits anybody from gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the
practice facility, according to the league.
“We were informed of Nick’s suspension by the league,” the Titans said in a statement Thursday. “We believe in Nick
and know he values the integrity of the game and our business. “We will continue to emphasize to our athletes the
importance of understanding and following league rules and standards.
Thursday’s announcement is the latest in a series of offseason gambling suspensions in 2023. On April 21, the NFL
punished Lions receivers Jameson Williams, Quintez Cephus, Stanley Berryhill, safety C.J. Moore, and Washington
Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney for breaching the league’s gambling policy.
