The Detroit Lions are set to be without defensive tackle Alim McNeill for the foreseeable future.

McNeill, who was having the best season of his career, could lose time after getting injured in Week 13.

According to the NFL Network, the Lions have signed defensive tackle Tyson Alualu to their practice squad. McNeill

struggled during the second half of the game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Alualu in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft after he played collegiately at

California.

After a tenure with the Jaguars (2010-2016), Alualu signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017.

Alualu made his debut in Pittsburgh’s season-opening 21-18 victory over the Cleveland Browns, recording five

tackles.

In 2021, Alualu broke his ankle, limiting his production and availability.

In his career, Alualu has 25 sacks and 46 tackles for loss. His finest statistical season was in 2017 with the Steelers,

when he had four sacks and seven tackles for loss.

Throughout the season, Detroit has sought to boost defensive line productivity.

Bruce Irvin and Quinton Bohanna were promoted from the practice squad against the Saints and have the

opportunity to be signed to the active roster.

Irvin played 11 snaps and had a sack against Derek Carr.

Bohanna, who has been promoted several times, may also be added to the main roster, necessitating a search for a

replacement on the practice squad.
