A charter plane from Las Vegas carrying members of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team landed in Kansas City,
Missouri, early Monday, following an oil pressure failure in one of the engines.
There were no reported injuries, and team spokesperson Burt Lauten confirmed everyone was okay in a post on X,
adding that the Steelers are making “necessary plans to arrive back in Pittsburgh later today.”
Reporters for Pittsburgh’s KDKA-TV who were on board claimed the plane landed in Kansas City just before 4 a.m.,
and fire trucks were on the site to check the Airbus A330-900.
According to many sources, a replacement plane should arrive in Missouri at 9 a.m. central time to pick up the
original plane’s 182 passengers.
Cam Heyward, a defensive lineman, quipped on X that the squad could ask Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce
and superstar Taylor Swift for a lift home after Swift was photographed watching the game from a box in Kansas City
with Kelce’s family and the two were later spotted together.
The Steelers defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 23-18 on Sunday, improving to 2-1 on the season. Head coach Mike
Tomlin gave the Steelers a day off on Monday prior to the airline troubles, ESPN said. Swift’s appearance was the
game’s off-field highlight, following Kelce’s announcement that he had invited her as a guest after visiting a stop on
her Eras Tour. Last week, NFL pundits mocked relationship rumors between the two, and photographs and videos of
Swift cheering him on with his family were shown on FOX during the game and circulated on social media.
