Future Hall of Famer Tom Brady has expressed his thoughts on the NFL’s suspension of Pittsburgh Steelers safety
Damontae Kazee for the rest of the season for repeated unnecessary roughness violations.
The Pittsburgh Steelers safety was disqualified in Week 15 after a hit on Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael
Pittman Jr. Days later, the league confirmed Kazee will be suspended for the rest of the season and playoffs, with no
pay.
“When players repeatedly violate the rules intended to protect player safety, and especially when the violations carry
a significant risk of injury to an opposing player, it is appropriate to impose substantially greater penalties,” NFL vice
president of football operations John Runyan stated in a press release about the suspension.
Now, Brady is sharing his feelings, slamming the NFL for its decision on the matter.
“Nobody loves to watch players get wounded. “But hard hits happen,” Brady posted on Instagram. “Quarterbacks
should not toss the ball in situations where their teammates are vulnerable to such blows. Coaches must improve
their coaching, quarterbacks must read coverages and pass the ball to the correct locations, and defenders must aim
for the proper hitting zones. Blaming the defense player all the time is simply wrong. Need better quarterback play!!
It is not acceptable for quarterbacks to have their receivers hit as a result of poor decision-making!”
