SAD NEW: Green bay best key player has been suspended for….

“The decision to suspend a player is never easy, and it is not one we take lightly,” Gutekunst said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, Jaire’s behavior prior to the game in Carolina prompted us to take this measure. As an organization,

we demand that everyone prioritizes the team.

“While we are unhappy, we had a fantastic talk with Jaire this morning and fully anticipate him to learn from our

experience as we move forward together. We are excited to welcome him back next week since he is a valuable

member of this team and will continue to be in the future.”

Alexander returned to Green Bay’s lineup in Carolina after missing six games due to a shoulder injury. LaFleur did

not name him as one of his three weekly captains. Alexander felt that because the game was being played in his

hometown of Charlotte, he should be captain. So he constructed one for himself.

“I don’t think Coach knew I was from Charlotte,” Alexander explained after the game.

Making matters worse, he nearly cost the Packers a possession.

When the Packers won the toss, Alexander stated that the defense preferred to be on the field first, rather than

deferring the decision to the second half. Fortunately for the Packers, LaFleur had informed the officiating team,

directed by Alex Kemp, of his expectations ahead of time.

“I said, ‘I want our defense to be out there,’ and they all looked at me like I was crazy,” recalled Alexander. “It’s pretty

simple,” I said. “I want the defense to be out there.” They are like, ‘You mean defer?’ And I say, ‘Yeah, I guess.’ ”

Alexander will be unable to play in Sunday night’s game at Minnesota due to his suspension. Both clubs are 7-8 and

must win to remain in the NFC postseason chase.

Jefferson is expected to be a major component of Minnesota’s game plan regardless of who begins at quarterback for

the Vikings. The Vikings haven’t decided whether to start Jaren Hall, Nick Mullens, or Joshua Dobbs at quarterback.
