This season, the Ohio State Buckeyes have suffered numerous injuries on both sides of the ball.
That pattern continued on Tuesday, when Buckeyes coach Ryan Day announced that running back Miyan Williams
would miss the rest of the season due to injury.
“I feel really bad with Miyan, he’s not going to be able to play,” Day told the media. “He has had a surgery done. That
was a great hit in that room and among our crew. He has done a lot of amazing things for our team.”
Day did not specify the particular nature of the treatment, but he did state that it was “not an ACL” injury.
Williams participated in only six of the Buckeyes’ eight games this season, carrying 49 times for 158 yards and three
touchdowns.
His final appearance came in the Buckeyes’ stunning triumph over the Penn State Nittany Lions in Columbus, where he covered in for an injured TreVeyon Henderson and had a significant influence.
In that game, Williams carried 24 times for 62 yards and a crucial touchdown.
Williams has been a prominent member of the Buckeyes offense in recent seasons, particularly in 2022, when he
appeared in 11 games, carrying 128 times for 825 yards and 14 touchdowns while averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Williams had his best game of the season against Rutgers, rushing 21 times for 189 yards and five touchdowns.
He also made an impact in the 2021 season, rushing for over 500 yards and three touchdowns while averaging more
than seven yards per carry.
Williams, a senior, has most certainly played his final game in a Buckeyes uniform, unless the NCAA grants some
type of waiver or redshirt status.
