The Indianapolis Colts have signed safeties Kendell Brooks, Michael Tutsie, and former New Orleans Saints starting
lineman Lewis Kidd to reserve/future deals.
Brooks is a former Michigan State Spartan who signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 as an undrafted free
agent. While he began his undergraduate career at North Greenville University, it was in the Big Ten with MSU as a
cornerback where he recorded 109 tackles, four pass defenses, and three forced fumbles.
Tutsie’s name may be familiar to Colts fans, since he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent last season out
f North Dakota State. He was a standout for the Bison, amassing 338 tackles, 22 pass defenses, 11 interceptions, and
68 games as a safety. He also attended Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, so he is well familiar with the
franchise.
After how poor Rodney Thomas II appeared in his sophomore season as a free safety in 2023, Brooks and Tutsie’s
contracts could increase competition for the safety position in Indianapolis.
Finally, there’s the guard, Kidd. The former Montana State Bobcat was on Indy’s practice squad last season but was
removed two months later, in mid-December. Kidd played for the Saints in 2022, and he even had the opportunity to
start. With offensive line depth so vital, this is a good move to shore up protection, especially with a young
quarterback like Anthony Richardson entering his second season.
