It was confirmed earlier on Tuesday that Robin Koch, Leeds’ £12.7 million signing from Freiburg in the summer of
2020, has agreed to a free transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he had previously been on loan. Koch has signed to
a three-year deal with the Bundesliga club and will join on a free transfer when his contract at Elland Road expires.
We understand Leeds had the option to extend Koch’s four-year contract by another 12 months, but only provided
they stayed in the Premier League at the time of renewal. As a result of their relegation to the second division, Koch
was free to leave, and Leeds lost the option to keep him.
The timing of their relegation also meant that Koch finally left Elland Road for nothing, though Leeds did save on his
wages and received a loan fee from Frankfurt for roughly €3 million (£2.6 million).
Koch appeared in 77 games for Leeds over a three-year period.
TEAMtalk can also reveal that another defender, Moore, has left Elland Road, joining Scottish side Hibs on loan
until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old plays regularly for Leeds’ Under-21s and was recently awarded a new two-year contract.
However, the centre-half, who can also play full-back, is ready to make the jump to the first team.
The intense competition at Leeds, however, assured that this would not happen at Elland Road, thus a transfer
elsewhere was the best choice for all parties.
That opportunity arose when Hibernian, managed by Leeds-born former Sheffield United midfielder Nick
Montgomery, offered him a move north of the line.
Moore has already joined Hibs on their warm-weather training camp in Dubai, with the season set to start on
January 20 with a Scottish Cup fourth-round match against Forfar.
