Following the latest losses to their linebacker corps, the Dolphins are bringing in three veterans, one of whom is
familiar with the team’s first-round playoff opponent this weekend. Miami confirmed on Tuesday that outside
linebackers Justin Houston and Bruce Irvin had been added to the 53-man roster. A league source told the Miami
Herald that the Dolphins are also adding Malik Reed to the practice squad.
Houston, who will turn 35 on January 21, spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Miami will play Kansas City on the road Saturday night.
The Carolina Panthers released Houston in December after he signed a one-year contract with the organization. He
has a half sack in seven games. Houston has 112 career sacks, which is tied for third most among current players.
Houston has four Pro Bowl appearances and one All-Pro selection, all with the Chiefs. Houston, a third-round pick in
the 2011 NFL Draft, has previously played for the Colts and Ravens. Houston led Baltimore with 9.5 sacks in 2022.
Houston has appeared in nine playoff games over his 13-year career.
Irvin, 36, was released by the Detroit Lions last week after playing two games in December and registering one sack.
Irvin was a first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft and has also played for the Raiders,
Falcons, Bears, and Panthers. He has 85 career sacks.
