The burden on the shoulders of Commanders head coach Ron Rivera has not gone away during the course of this season, and the
team’s new owner John Harris appears prepared to make a decision on his future.
Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera may lead a departure of front-office personnel as new team owner Josh Harris seeks
to make his own mark on the proceedings.
With Rivera in his fourth year as coach, there has been talk that the new leadership at FedEx Field may make changes at the end of the
season. Washington has yet to finish a season with a winning record in the NFC East since winning the conference in 2020, and a split
could be on the horizon.
According to the Athletic, Rivera’s tenure with the squad will conclude at the end of the regular season. They claim that insiders have
told them that it has always been Harris’ goal to keep the present head coach until the end of the season.
According to reports, Rivera’s apparent exit is’really not a secret anymore’, with this information generating ‘no surprises’ given the
ownership transition. In November, CBS Sports writer Jonathan Jones stated that “it is widely assumed that [Rivera] will not be
retained as head coach and ostensible chief of football for the Commanders after the 17th game of the year.”
