According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Green Bay Packers have signed running back Kenyan Drake, a former
third-round choice who has 868 regular season runs in the NFL. According to his Twitter account, Drake will be
allocated the number 32, which is presently owned by practice squad running back James Robinson. Robinson was
named to the Packers’ practice squad twice this season. Now, it appears that his second discharge from the taxi
squad is a roster change to make way for Drake.
Drake’s NFL career has included 868 carries for 3,866 yards (4.5 yards per attempt) and 33 running touchdowns, as
well as 218 receptions for 1,655 yards and eight receiving touchdowns. Drake has also returned 41 kickoffs for 964
yards and 1 touchdown. Drake’s last appearance was in 2021 with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he played under
current Packers special teams coach Rich Bisaccia.
Drake was originally picked by the Miami Dolphins in 2016, but was dealt to the Arizona Cardinals for a fifth-round
pick at the 2019 trade deadline. Drake was then signed to a one-year, $8.5 million transition tag in 2020. He then
signed a two-year, $14.5 million contract with the Raiders, but only played one season of it. Drake has spent the
previous two seasons alternating between the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, and Cleveland Browns. He was
released from the Browns’ practice squad last week.
