Leeds United will travel to Chelsea on Wednesday with many important injury concerns, as Daniel Farke acknowledges he will have to
make some late decisions about his selection, with doubts over Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter, and Crysencio Summerville.
The Whites are possibly 90 minutes away from reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals, but Farke must strike a balance between those
objectives and his team’s Championship promotion target. He is well aware of the league’s tight game schedule, but he is hesitant to
make too many changes to his team, especially given their excellent form in 2024.
However, he may be obliged to make changes at Stamford Bridge, despite having Connor Roberts available after the on-loan Burnley
defender was unable to participate in the fourth-round match against Plymouth Argyle. Farke believes the Welsh international is in
line for a start, although Bamford, Rutter, and Summerville are all doubts.
“All my players are in my thoughts because we have such a tight group,” Farke said ahead of the trip to West London. “We don’t have
to make too many difficult judgments at this time. Connor is an experienced player who made a significant effect in the last game. He
is definitely in my thoughts.
“Patrick (Bamford) had a small reaction to his calf. There is also a question mark over Summerville. Dan James has a small injury, but
he should be available. Rutter has issues with his hip flexor. We’ll make a late choice about him.
