Guice departed the Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after collecting 18 yards on 10 rushes, but when his right
knee didn’t heal this week, he decided to get a second opinion.
Gruden says he doesn’t know how long Guice will be out, and no decision has been made on whether to place him on injured reserve.
Guice missed the entire season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during an exhibition game in August 2018, and
his coach expects him to recover as well as he did the last time.
Without Guice, Adrian Peterson, 34, is expected to bear more of the running load.
He was a healthy scratch in Philadelphia last week, but Gruden said he was certain Peterson would be ready to go
when his number was called.
Washington’s offensive line struggled against Philadelphia, but the Eagles have an excellent front four and were one
of seven defenses last season that held opponents to less than 100 yards running a game (96.9).
