A prominent Tennessee Vols player will miss the first half of the team’s game against UTSA next Saturday due to a scuffle that
occurred at the end of the Florida game on Saturday night.
Vols defensive limeman Omarr Norman-Lott, a transfer from Arizona State, will miss the first half against UTSA after being
suspended for punching a Florida player.
Three Florida players have been suspended for the first half of the team’s next game.
Kamal Hadden, a Vols cornerback, was not suspended for his involvement in the scuffle. Hadden was spotted “squared up” with
Florida offensive lineman Micah Mazzaccua. However, the television broadcast of the game revealed that Hadden was only protecting
himself after attempting to break up the fight.
Hadden took to Instagram shortly after the game to explain his side of the tale.
The scuffle began when Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel called a timeout with nine seconds remaining before the Gators’ fourth
down play. Graham Mertz, Florida’s quarterback, took the snap on fourth down and attempted to kill time in the backfield before
kneeling. Omari Thomas, a Tennessee defensive lineman, hit Mertz after the quarterback was in position to kneel.
Thomas was initially flagged for targeting on the play, but it was reversed, so he will not miss the first half against UTSA on Saturday
in Knoxville.
