Carles Falcón died on Monday, more than a week after suffering a serious crash in Dakar 2024. The incident happened on January
7th, during the second stage. He was racing in the Original by Motul category without assistance and was ranked 77th overall when he fell.
Since then, the KTM rider from TwinTrail Racing has been hospitalized in severe condition and is in a coma. The team revealed that
his death occurred on Monday: “Carles has left us.” The medical team determined that the brain damage induced by the
cardiorespiratory arrest during the accident is irreparable, according to the statement.
The announcement then describes Falcón as a person and a professional: ‘Carles was a happy person, constantly busy, and passionate
about all he did, particularly motorcycling. He left us to pursue his dream: competing in the Dakar. He was having fun and was
content riding his bike. We should remember him for his grin and the joy he spread to everyone. I’m a computer engineer by training.
