Although the Detroit Lions fell short of making Super Bowl LVIII, the team should be happy of its accomplishments
in 2023.
The Lions broke their decades-long playoff drought by winning their first postseason game in years in the Wild Card
round against the Los Angeles Rams.
Detroit defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional round before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in
the NFC Championship Game.
Although the Lions narrowly missed the Super Bowl, the team is well-positioned for long-term success due to its
roster’s age and quality.
The offense is led by great receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has established himself as one of the best and most
consistent wideouts in the NFL.
After finishing his third season, St. Brown joined an elite group of receivers, according to PFF.
“Most receptions in first three career seasons: Justin Jefferson 324, Michael Thomas 321, Amon-Ra St. Brown, 315,”
PFF said in a statement.
St. Brown’s ability to line up throughout the formation propelled him to the top of Detroit’s passing game.
The former USC Trojan performs best in the slot, but he can also line up on the outside and do jet sweeps for rushing
yards.
However, his bread and butter is working the short and medium parts of the field where he can use his route-
running and burst to get open.
Jared Goff frequently relies on St. Brown for conversions, and the latter typically delivers with a grab and additional
yardage.
