On Sunday night, when Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams broke Barry Sanders’ single-season touchdown
record against his former team, the Green Bay Packers, all of the emotions were on display.
During a post-game interview on Sunday Night Football, Williams burst into tears and dedicated the game to his late
great grandfather. “I am grateful for the opportunity to play this game for my great-grandfather. I’m delighted he’s
gazing down on me, because I know I’m making him proud.
He then abruptly switched tactics and conveyed a message directly to the detractors.
“And another thing: Stop playing us, man,” Williams urged Stark. “We are the Detroit Lions. We are the Detroit
Lions. Stop fooling with us. I don’t even watch television, but I heard everyone had already chosen the Packers over
us. Stop fooling with us. That’s all I have to say, man. Don’t let the tears deceive you. It’s all dog around this cup!”
Both interviews became viral on Twitter following the game. The entire shift of emotions within the same interview
prompted Lions fans to call it the best post-game interview of all time. It was fairly good.
