The Thread: The Packers want any upheaval to delay their divorce.
Aaron Rodgers wants no part of Green Bay, but the team has committed to one more Super Bowl run. This might not
work out well.
A fascinating story is very important to him. This is not a secret.
And what a narrative it could be. All of this fits neatly into the autobiography he will eventually write. All of this
definitely strengthens the chip that is permanently embedded in his right shoulder. This resentment outweighs all
others. Despite the misgivings of his own managers, Aaron Rodgers will play in Green Bay in the 2021 season. And
once the season is done, the Packers must be willing to trade the quarterback in accordance with Adam Schefter’s
concessions (demands?).
After the season, they plan to “review Rodgers’ situation.” To put it another way, Green Bay will trade Rodgers if his
feelings are still hurt at that moment.
Additionally, “mechanisms” will be implemented to address Rodgers’ “issues” with the corporation. Whatever that
entails. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Aaron Rodgers’ surrogate once stated that this would signify a public
apology from the team.
His contract’s last year, 2023, is invalid.
The following headline is copied directly from The Onion. According to sources, Rodgers wants the team to trade for
Randall Cobb, a struggling slot receiver. Amazing.
There are two perspectives on the whole situation.
One could argue that Rodgers was defeated in this power struggle and that he clearly wanted to leave but couldn’t.
That is logical. It’s not as if he’ll give up on every play. The Packers are aware that Rodgers does well when he is
enraged. Perhaps they can pull another MVP campaign out of him. However, the general consensus is that this is an
extremely odd deal, equivalent to a husband and wife agreeing to divorce on the condition that they continue to live
together for seven months. If the Packers expect that all of their problems will magically disappear, they are
delusional. They appear completely content to submit to the quarterback’s wishes.
