Jalen Reeves-Maybin exemplifies the Detroit Lions’ policy of rewarding players who make substantial contributions
to the club.
With more salary limit monies available, general manager Brad Holmes made an easy decision to reward the 29-
year-old with a hefty extension.
A special teams standout who has also played linebacker, the versatile defense will spend the next two seasons in Detroit after signing a contract extension.
Reeves-Maybin, a fourth-round pick in 2017, was named to the All-Pro second team in 2023.
The veteran was tied for the NFL lead with 14 special teams tackles.
He was selected to his first Pro Bowl after recording 20 tackles and one sack in Aaron Glenn’s defense.
“Yeah, he does everything for us, and more importantly to me, he takes guys aside when he needs to,” special teams
coordinator Dave Fipp told reporters in 2023. “I believe I mentioned that he is a good leader by example. Much of
what he does is how he leads, but he also has a subtle way of grabbing a person and giving him some counsel or a tip,
thus taking the leadership of the entire group into his hands.
“And he’s done an excellent job with that. I mean, we’re fortunate to have him.
