He is back……

The San Francisco 49ers suffered a sad overtime Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, 25-22.

The back-and-forth defensive fight ended with the two teams locked at 19 at the end of regulation due to late field

goals. The 49ers were forced to settle for a field goal on their first overtime drive, giving the Chiefs a chance to

become the first back-to-back Super Bowl winners in two decades.

One of the major players to watch in Super Bowl LVIII is 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who was named

2023 Offensive Player of the Year at the NFL Honors on Thursday.

In his second season with the 49ers in 2023, McCaffrey topped the league in rushing yards (1,459), touches (339),

yards from scrimmage (2,023), and touchdowns (14 rushing and 7 receiving). He also had 564 yards receiving.

McCaffrey’s 1,459 rushing yards in 2023 were career highs, as were his yards per rush (5.4) and receiving

touchdowns (7).

In two postseason games, McCaffrey has ran for 188 yards and four touchdowns.

McCaffrey lost a rare fumble on the 49ers’ first possession in the Super Bowl. He fumbled only three times

throughout the regular season, despite having 272 carries and 67 receptions.

During his seven-year NFL career with the Carolina Panthers and the 49ers, McCaffrey set multiple NFL, Panthers,

and 49ers franchise records and won a rising number of league accolades. Aside with being named Offensive Player

of the Year in 2023, McCaffrey is a two-time First Team All-Pro, a second-team All-Pro, and a three-time Pro Bowler.
