The Baltimore Ravens received some major injury news on Friday when they revealed that standout tight end Mark
Andrews had returned to practice and was officially designated to return. That designation enables the Ravens 21
days to add him to the active roster or bench him for the season.
This should be taken as a very positive omen for his probable return to the lineup. Andrews has been on injured
reserve since November with a fractured fibula, but the Ravens have left the door open for him to return later this
year.
Andrews had missed six games as of this week. The Ravens’ playoff journey will not begin until the divisional round,
when they host the AFC’s lowest-ranked playoff team. That could be either Houston, Cleveland, Miami, or
Pittsburgh.
Getting Andrews back would be a major boost to the Ravens’ already potent offense. He is one of football’s top pass-
catching tight ends and a consistent target for quarterback Lamar Jackson. Before his injury, he had 45 receptions
for 544 yards and six touchdowns. Despite missing the last six games, he is the team’s second-leading receiver, with
10 more catches than Nelson Agholor and Odell Beckham Jr. (both with 35 receptions). Zay Flowers, a rookie, led the
club with 77 receptions. Andrews also had the most receiving touchdowns on the team with six.
